Sleep Disorder Centers

Sleep specialists are health professionals who are skilled at evaluating and treating sleep disorders.

They may be doctors, psychologists, or dentists who have had specialized training in sleep medicine.

They often work in sleep centers (also known as a sleep clinic or sleep study center) or dental sleep medicine facilities.

To get help with your sleep issues, you may need to see a sleep specialist at an accredited sleep center.

1) How to Find an Accredited Sleep Disorder Center

Sleep disorder centers are places where patients can receive comprehensive care for sleep disorders.  They are commonly staffed by physicians trained and board certified in sleep medicine.

They specialize in treating sleep disorders such as:  insomnia, sleep apnea & snoring, narcolepsy, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, and restless leg syndrome.

Your doctor may refer you to a specific sleep specialist and center.

Dental sleep medicine specializes in using oral appliances to treat sleep-related breathing issues such as snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.

Often, these dentists work together with sleep doctors to help treat patients.

Oral appliance therapy uses removable mouth inserts to prevent the tongue from falling backward and blocking the airway during sleep.

It has been shown to be effective for mild to moderate sleep apnea.
